Any of the other bikes, Polygon T8, Nukeproof Reactor, seem worse on the ups.
Looked at some shorter travel bikes and found the Vitus Escarpe that would probably fit my needs. The Jeffsey & Capra are slayers & the I even run the Capra w/ a dual-crown at park, 3 yrs of bashing it… totally solid.ĭo yr homework is all Im saying and I can promise you that 95% of gripes online are mostly hype & BS Ive had only near-instant replies from YT via email for years - I think people are BS-ing Point being - anything can break at any time and people tend to pile on when someone has an online gripe so take it all w/ a grain of salt.

I know it’s not on your list, but you might wanna check out the Jeffsy. That being said, a buddy of mine got the Spectral & loves it for all western NC riding. Anyway - just saying maybe do a tad more homework on bikes that may be a bit more nimble but which are nearly as capable as the Spectral & M-TR. However - when I goto Snowshoe / Windrock or other bike parks, the Capra is great.not taking less than that to those places. Point being - having pedaled my schoolbus / 18-wheeler Capra uphill for 3 years and then testing some smaller travel but capable bikes, I've learned I can ditch some of the overforking / overbiking of the YT for bikes that are easily still capable in mountainous / rugged terrain - but which are much, much faster and fun in gentle to rolling / flowy terrain too. Does anyone have any real experience on these bikes or any thoughts? Thanks for all your help!Īgreed w/ Mackster but a question - don't these bikes seem a bit much for most of the riding in yr area? Maybe not - I dunno, but I can tell you from riding a 160/160 travel YT Capra (which is fun) - is still kinda overkill for even most of the rowdiest & unsanctioned western NC / Pisgah stuff where a 120/140 or 130/150 travel bike is much more nimble and will still totally shred and pedal up moderately steep trails even better than the YT.

Hoping to start racing in the Missouri Enduro Series/Arkansas Enduro Series later this year though. Some jump lines, mild flowy trails, and some rocky more technical trails. Mostly ride in the midwest on a good range of trails. heavier than the Meta, so wondering if that will make much of a difference as well. The Spectral is supposed to climb better but the AL is actually 2 lbs.
Not sure how much of a difference that would make. The lower range Commencal only comes with a 150 fork but all the reviews are on 160 forks. The issue is that none of the reviews out there line up with the models I'm looking at. I have a budget of 3k and have narrowed down my options to the Commencal Meta TR or the Canyon Spectral AL 5(29 in both).
